Happy Birthday!

Today is my Hebrew birthday!
I’d like to bless those around me,
To look inward, be aware of your greatness.
Discover that true happiness comes from within.
To be filled with overflowing positivity to the brim.

Truly live and be present in the moment,
Not focusing on what took place in the past, or may occur in the future.

May your goals and comfort zone be far out of reach,
And may you achieve much success, that about success you will preach!

I hope you have appreciation simply for waking each day.
And the strength to hold your head high, when facing dismay.
The courage to get off the train of a negative state of mind.
To force a smile on your lips even when that’s the last thing you desire

And be thankful for all the relationships you acquire.
May your Hearts be content, and your belly full
Look for the good in others,  we are all each other’s sisters and brothers.

I Wish you all the very best,
We did not come to this world to rest.
Keep on checking off life’s tests!

Once upon a time...

The kings knees sunken  to the ground,
His broken wings he tries to fly.
As his cracked voice sings a lullaby.
His fallen face wet,
From a recent cry.
He looks up to the heavens,
And wonders why??

He has been clawed, &severely broken down.
His tired physique broken, dragged to the ground.

Where is his queen?
Who enviously stole his crown.
Took his ever smiling lips,
And banished them into a steady frown.
She's wrecked his morale, his attitude.
The clouds are grey,
When she hits that mood.

Although he tries with strength,
To pass each test.
Her best feature is to make,
Of him a mess.

His heart is caged,
For fear of pain.
His cries for help,
All gone in vain.

When will the sun shine on his kingdom?
When will he king become?

The queen is trapped,
By the demons of her brain.
Trying to move forward,
But her past keep her in a angry flame.

She causes damage,
Wherever she goes.
Turns all her friends into foes.
She is selfish, arrogant & unkind.

She learns new behaviors,
To alter her mind.
But her demons rock with laughter,
As positivity she tries to go after.

But she is shackled to the negative ground,
No savior to be found.
She must fight this battle on her own.
So her mighty king can claim his throne.
And together they can rebuild the ruins of their home!

Thursday Musings

Who Are We?
Do we identify ourselves by who we have become?
the results of our actions,
the constant thoughts we run?

Are we our goals and aspirations?
The way we handle difficult situations?
Are we our nature? our natural personality?
Or the person we aim to be?

Our thoughts create our future,
So is it our minds that define who we are?
Are we are our nurture?
The surrounding circle of family and friends?
Perhaps our morals define us
Despite often their authenticity we pretend?

Are we the person we choose to portray to the world?
The intellectual comments & advice we wish to be heard?
Are we the kindness we display?
The good we give each day?
The smiles we share in the hopes of lifting each other?
The words we speak to one another?

Bright lights, Mental fights

Flickers of light,
Like our wandering souls.
Lasting for days,
Like our New Year goals.
Every night we light another,
As together we celebrate,
And gift love to each other.
We sing and dine.
Indulging in Doughnuts, latkes and wine,
Reminiscing of the miracles of another time.

8 days where we try our best,
To put worry to rest.
Placing smiles on our face,
Our Families we embrace.
The Month of Kislev One should try not to complain,
So that the rest of the year can follow the same
Routine of positivity.
But most of us leave our goals behind,
Leaving them to drown in the memory sea.
And jumping back into our monotone of reality.
We do as expected,
And have many ups and downs.
Often we laugh, frequently we frown.

This year I ask you to differ from the norm,
Take the beauty of Chanukah into your daily storm.
Reflect upon the spiritual light,
When your emotions have a fight.
Carry your head up high,
Cease the sorrow, wipe your cry.
Illuminate your life with the beauty of happiness.
Give yourself the mentality,
To be as positive as can be.
In order for light in your eyes shine,

Like the bright menorah’s during Chanukah time.

We are ants in this jungle of a world

Yesterday I almost lose my life
Totaled my car
Yet I walked out alright
The black ice and my brakes where having a fight
I was swerving down hill
Afraid the children in the school bus
I may kill
Hit the car in the other lane
She walked out shaken up, but still the same
Now I see my blind faith in you
Is not in vain
We are simply pawns in this life’s game
Did I dream this would occur at 9 am?
Enroute to work boom! Crash!
But on me just a tiny scratch!
Thank you hashem!
This morning my life has new meaning
I will not take the little good things for granted
I will focus on what I have
Not on what I wanted
Give love to the people near me
Be happy, simply for my reality.
Yesterday I totaled my car
But from yesterdays state of mind I’ve grown so far.
