Flickers of light,
Like our wandering souls.
Lasting for days,
Like our New Year goals.
Every night we light another,
As together we celebrate,
And gift love to each other.
We sing and dine.
Indulging in Doughnuts, latkes and wine,
Reminiscing of the miracles of another time.
8 days where we try
our best,
To put worry to rest.
Placing smiles on our face,
Our Families we embrace.
The Month of Kislev One should try not to complain,
So that the rest of the year can follow the same
Routine of positivity.
But most of us leave our goals behind,
Leaving them to drown in the memory sea.
And jumping back into our monotone of reality.
We do as expected,
And have many ups and downs.
Often we laugh, frequently we frown.
This year I ask you to differ from the norm,
Take the beauty of Chanukah into your daily storm.
Reflect upon the spiritual light,
When your emotions have a fight.
Carry your head up high,
Cease the sorrow, wipe your cry.
Illuminate your life with the beauty of happiness.
Give yourself the mentality,
To be as positive as can be.
In order for light in your eyes shine,
Like the bright menorah’s during Chanukah time.
